Love Story - Victoria (EN)
Your Love Story
Tell us about your meeting, where it all started ...
We met in 2015 as students at Tulane University in New Orleans. Our first date was sushi at Haiku on Magazine St., which is still our favorite sushi restaurant.
Your moodboard
What was the color palette for your wedding, your decorative inspirations?
Originally we were going to have our wedding in New Orleans in January 2021 but due to COVID we switched to June in Sacramento – a much sunnier and hotter time of year. Our wedding location was along the Sacramento river in the backyard of Matthew’s parents home. About an acre of grass and trees along the river. We went with a “garden” themed with a pastel color palette. We wanted to have a light and airy wedding that showed off the natural beauty around us!
Your dress
How did you live your experience with us, how did you choose the dress?
My mother and I saw your store on the way to another bridal dress store (There was a light blue dress in the window that we both loved). I obviously did not find a dress I loved there, so on the way back to the car we decided to pop in and see what your store was about. I think I tried on two or three dresses until I tried on and fell in love with Margaux. The whole experience was great, including dealing with changes in dates and delays due to COVID. Also, being able to make changes to the dress made it feel like it was really just mine.
Your song
The song that instantly reminds you of your marriage, your love?
We had two dances and both songs immediately take us back; Chris Stapleton’s “Love of my Life” and Elivs’ “Cant stop falling in love"
Your souvenir
What is the best memory of your wedding?
It was 110 that day so immediately following first dances Matt and I ran off and changed into different outfits - Matt, a white button down a khaki shorts and I, a pair of sparkly pants. We came back and did our second dance to "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis surrounded by everyone with holding sparklers.
Your tip
What advice would you give to future brides?
If you’re going to have a big wedding, pick a great wedding planner/day of coordinator. Communicate your wishes early and often and then just enjoy the wedding the day of- at that point it’s all out of your hands.
Don’t sweat the small stuff – no one will know/notice and neither will you!
