Her childhood in Paris and her life in San Diego have a lot to do with it.

Christina, tell us why you selected these colors to be in your collections?

Christina Sfez : Thanks to the ready-to-wear brand that I had for 8 years, I was able to explore many shades. When I created my house of wedding dresses, I wanted to stay in the traditional white dress for a few seasons... then I quickly wanted to instill touches of color and then outright colored dresses. Wearing white is a beautiful and old tradition, but nowadays does not make so much sense. I like that the bride feels beautiful and herself. If she can wear the color of her choice for this particular day, what could be more beautiful?

Colors full of strength and poetry for an unforgettable wedding and guest dresses by Christina Sfez

Can you share a nice childhood memory that gave rise to this love of colorful hues?

I have had a passion for colors since I was little! My Saturdays strolling around the Marché Saint-Pierre in Paris had a lot to do with it. I passed my hand over the fabric displays and stood stunned in front of displays of ribbons and buttons sorted by color.

How do you choose the colors that you will highlight from one season to another?

A painting, a bouquet, and glimpsed landscapes… It can come from several things. Over the past two seasons, nature has inspired me the most. Without a doubt, the overwhelming daily events have made us take a closer look around us. I usually have colors swirling around in my head for a few months and that naturally carries over to the season in preparation.

In your creations, are you more pure color or a mixture of colors of your invention?

For the wedding collection, pure color! But if I have a very specific idea in mind, I can look for materials in the desired shade for a long time. I also work with the Tono and Co dye house in California for our silks.

“My favorite color? The indigo blue that I love in my personal life but that I have never used in my collections yet!”

The one you don't like?

None, I love all colors!

What do you think is the fashion faux pas when it comes to colors?

For a look, I prefer almost monochromatic monochromes rather than frank associations of colors.

What color piece do your customers like the most?

The Maggie dress with its luminous sunset color for 2022. When worn it is a real jewel that instantly illuminates the bride.

And yours?

I find the dress Billie incredibly elegant with its raw clay color as if coming out of a rocky landscape. To harmonize the colors, we assembled each layer one by one.

What color do you wear the most on a daily basis?

White and blue.

“ Sage green is the symbol of hope and renewal! ”

A color or colors to describe San Diego? And for Paris?

For San Diego, the blue of the ubiquitous sky and the green of the countless succulents.

For Paris, chalk and slate as reminders of Haussmann buildings.

For your future brides who choose a white wedding dress, what color accessories would you recommend?

Everything will depend on the dress and its neckline: I particularly like a pair of colorful Flor de Asoka shoes or a pretty hand-painted Mignonne Handmade comb.

For children, what are your favorite colors for special occasion outfits?

All the colors are reminiscent of a field of flowers: pink, yellow, green, and lavender...

In terms of decoration, what are your favorite colors?

I like raw materials and ocher, terracotta or rust tones, all associated with cooler colors like indigo blue or green.

Proper Santa Monica

And for makeup ?

A pretty lipstick in a vibrant shade like fuchsia.

What do you think is THE color of 2022?

If I had to choose just one I would say sage green, a symbol of hope and renewal.
